Qualifications, Scope & Referrals
What does a Canine Communication Diploma allow you to do?
The diploma gives us practical skills to read body language, teach calm handling and reinforcement methods, coach owners, and design behaviour plans for common issues. It supports workshops, video coaching, and in‑home skill building.
Are you a clinical animal behaviourist or a vet?
No. We are trainers and canine communicators, not clinical animal behaviourists or veterinary behaviourists. We do not diagnose medical conditions or prescribe medication.
When will you refer to a specialist?
We refer for serious or escalating aggression, sudden behaviour changes suggesting medical causes, severe separation anxiety, compulsive behaviours, or any case that doesn’t progress with structured intervention. We provide clear handover notes and trusted referral contacts.
What to Expect
What happens in the first session?
Expect a calm assessment covering history, routines, environment, and a focused observation of your dog. You’ll receive practical short‑term goals, immediate safety steps, simple exercises and a clear homework plan.
How long until I see results?
Simple cues and routine changes can show measurable improvement within days to weeks with consistent practice. Complex behavioural patterns commonly require 6–12 weeks of structured work, environment changes, and owner commitment.
How do you measure progress?
We track behaviour frequency, success rate of cues, stress signals and owner confidence using video homework, owner logs and concise session summaries with milestones.
Training Programs & Teaching Others
Do you offer workshops and courses?
Yes. We run short workshops (2–3 hours) for beginners, multi‑week courses, and bespoke packages for specific needs (e.g., separation anxiety, loose lead walking). We also run train‑the‑trainer modules for experienced graduates.
Can you train me to teach others?
Yes. Our train‑the‑trainer pathway covers teaching technique, lesson planning, supervised practice and assessment tasks for those aiming to teach professionally.
Safety & Ethics
Do you have safety practices?
Yes. complete risk assessments for in‑home visits and use consent and safety forms. Sessions stop immediately if a dog or person is at risk.
How do you handle recordings and privacy?
We only record or use client videos with explicit permission. Any material used for case studies or marketing is anonymised unless you give clear consent.
What about COVID and hygiene?
We follow current guidance and can offer outdoor or remote options where appropriate. Safety protocols are agreed with each client prior to a visit.
Breeding & Semen Shipping
Do you manage breeding and semen shipping?
Yes. We support responsible breeding logistics: advising on health checks, temperament screening, contracts, collection scheduling and coordinating chilled or frozen semen shipping through licensed partner labs and veterinary repro clinics.
Do you perform semen freezing or lab cryopreservation in‑house?
No. We partner with accredited reproductive vets and labs for collection, cryopreservation and long‑term storage. We coordinate logistics and paperwork, but laboratory processing is handled by licensed partners.
What paperwork is required?
Typical documents: completed breeding contract, owner consent, stud health certificate, semen transport authorisation and destination clinic contact details. Specific requirements depend on origin, destination and whether semen is chilled or frozen.
How does shipping work?
We arrange temperature‑controlled packaging, courier booking, same‑day handling where needed, and confirmation of receipt at the destination clinic. Chain‑of‑custody documentation and tracking are provided.
How do I get a quote?
Contact us with origin and destination, chilled vs frozen preference, preferred collection window and any clinic contacts. We’ll provide a tailored estimate including partner lab fees and courier costs.
Practical Info & Preparation
How should I prepare for a session?
Bring recent videos of the behaviour, your dog’s usual lead/collar/harness and favourite high‑value treats. Be ready to commit to short daily practices and simple environment adjustments.
What forms will I receive?
You’ll get an intake form, consent and risk assessment, session summary with homework, and progress notes for follow‑ups.
